If Camden Town is a retro and trendy Market, then Old
Spitalfields Market in east London is indeed a retro Market.
This is London’s oldest vintage open-air market, with a
tradition stretching back more than eight centuries.
There are as many as four categories: hawker market,
storefront market, Saturday theme market and art market.
From novelty gadgets, stylish clothing, artisanal art to
gourmet snacks. You can also find some antiques at a
fixed time.

But my plan may be interpreted as disrespectful and
an attempt at parody of these famous paintings. Here
I have also given examples of some of the works that
are actually spoof, and I hope you can see the
difference.
Because my goal is to express the people and
scenery in the painting in a modern way, so as to
modernize the objects that only exist in history, and
at the same time to make the visitors have a more
thorough understanding of the paintings.

The theory I have been interested is Interior and interiority in Vermeer, from Dr.Benjamin binstockThe topic of this paper is how to integrate world famous paintings into modern architecture and life. Author would like to know what kind of actions have been taken by designers before and how to integrate these elements perfectly with interior & Architecture( it’s certainly not just the idea of hanging on a painting indoors or outdoors). I believe there must be a lot of people just like authors crazy about famous paintings, and I think these famous paintings are not only appreciated in galleries and museums, but also in our ordinary. The inspiration from the <Interior and Interiority in Vermeer, empiricism, subjectivity.

modernism > by Dr. Benjamin Bin-stock. The purpose of this essay explains how Vermeer decorate his interiors in different rooms in his house and his family members had been used as some of the models where they are combining empiricism with subjectivity. (Binstock, 2020) Dr. Benjamin received his doctorate from Columbia university and taught at New York university, he devoted his life to studying Vermeer and published many famous books about Vermeer, so the author thinks Dr. Benjamin’s view is very credible. The painter expressed his understanding of interior. And unique design concept in the form of painting, and made many famous paintings in the world. So Johannes Vermeer may well be the foremost painter of interiors and interiority in the history of arts. He mentioned how the painter used mirrors, windows and other reflections to show the detail of the real house in his painting. So the author wishes to use the opposite way to show the things into real life.

Project 3 BLOG 2:Whitstable 27/02/20

As Canterbury’s most famous seaside, little white is no less beautiful than margate. The town has shingle/sandy beaches flanking the harbour, where sunbathing, swimming and water sports are popular. The beaches east and west are unique amongst seaside towns in the south east of England for having no promenade; making them generally peaceful. An exception is Long Beach to the immediate east of the harbour where there is a base for jet skis. When we went there, the sea breeze was so strong that we all staggered on the beach.

A notable feature of Whitstable is The Street, a natural strip of shingle on clay bank which runs out to sea at right angles to the coast, for a distance of about 1⁄2 mile (800 m). It is the last remnant of the Swale river valley to the north of the town lost to sea erosion over millennia. Located to the east of the harbour, The Street is revealed only at low tide, when it is possible to walk out along it as well as swim either side in safe, sandy bottomed shallows. A view of The Street can be seen on the hilltop lawns of Tankerton Slopes.

Smithfield, or London Central Markets as it is formally known, is the largest wholesale meat market in the UK and one of the largest in Europe. We went to here, and felt the real life of the london.

Located within the Square Mile of the City of London it is housed in three listed buildings. It is a place packed with history there has been a livestock market on the site for over 800 years and yet is as modern as tomorrow with its state of the art facilities for the receiving, storing and despatching of meat and poultry.I was shocked by the size of the market and how fresh the meat looked, but my sense of smell was not good.

Billingsgate Market is the largest inland fish market in the UK.An average of 25,000 tons of fish and fish products are sold each year through its traders.About 40 percent of that tonnage includes fish imported from abroad. The annual turnover of the market is estimated at about 200 million pounds.

When the time we got to the Billingsgate market, they were almost sold out, but there was a very strong smell of fish in the air, and the ground was very slippery.Billingsgate is the largest inland fish market in the UK.An average of 25,000 tons of fish and fish products are sold each year through its traders.About 40 percent of that tonnage includes fish imported from abroad. The annual turnover of the market is estimated at around 200 million pounds, and the market is also a very old landmark, opened in 1876 as a protected building, and then moved to Docklands in 1982.

Project one : Magic (5)

We began to dispose of the copper pipes, which were collected from the school and were considered a waste product. It took a lot of time and effort to remove the wood outside the copper pipe with a saw, and the boys were very careful to contribute their efforts.Later, when we were assembling the copper pipes, we again encountered a very difficult problem — we could not fix the connection between the two copper pipes. We tried many methods, such as using hot melt adhesive, using high temperature heating wire welding and so on.

Because of the serious problem that we could not fix the copper pipe in the early stage, we could not proceed when we were making the copper pipe tree, which took a lot of time and affected our time. But fortunately, we finally found a suitable way to use the sol in the copper tube internal connection first paste, and then use a spray gun to melt the wire welding in the copper tube external,
so that the copper tube fixed connection. Show the final effect.

During the installation, the tutor informed us that we needed to help group 8 install the top of their design together. And to say that our two groups of design together, the news for us is sudden and beneficial.Just enough for us to hang the clouds on top of their stainless steel.

For the evening party, we prepared colorful lights and some desserts, and painted the names of the four harry potter houses on the gingerbread man.

PROJECT ONE: MAGIC(3)

In the initial design, we designed a canopy for the top of the forest table, one reason being to keep out the rain and protect the fragile clouds. The second reason is beauty. However, after later discussion with the tutor, we cancelled
this at the tutor’s suggestion.

This is a 3D version of the design that combines all the ideas, including clouds, a wire cloud tree floating in the air and a copper tube branch in a glass jar. This is our initial ideal, and also our expected effect of the project at the beginning.

With the extra wire, we made it feel like a tree trunk and root, and connected it to the cloud, looking like a tree made of clouds, or like a tree with no fruit on the branches but a lot of clouds. Very dreamy and dramatic design, and this strange thing only appears in the magical world, again fitting the theme of magic.

project 1:Magic (4)

We started making clouds by selecting seven paper lanterns of different sizes, and then sticking a large amount of cotton onto the surface of the paper lanterns with white latex. When pasting cotton, always use a hair dryer to blow hot air so that the white latex can dry faster.

We made a total of seven clouds, and when we finished, we started to try to hang them on the forest table, and we changed a lot of arrangements to make them feel like they were scattered.

PROJECT ONE: MAGIC(2)

Then we came up with anew idea, about thunderclouds. Thunder cloud not only appeared in harry potter, but also frequently appeared in the wizarding world. Thunder cloud also represented the unpredictable wizarding world.

We wanted to add more magical colors to the project, and we got some inspiration from these pictures, so we designed some schemes for branches and glass and copper pipes. However, in the later operation, we did encounter some difficulties, such as the cost of buying glass cans is too large, but the production
is very complicated. So we got rid of the glass jar and the real tree branch, and only kept the copper pipe. We wanted to use the copper tube to make the shape of the branch, to get close to the original design concept.

We wanted to add more magical colors to the project, and we got some inspiration from these pictures, so we designed some schemes for branches and glass and copper pipes. And then we drew these sketches
based on this design concept.

project 1:Magic (1)

First of all, what is the first thing that people associate with magic?
The witch? The black cats?An old man in a magic robe?Or harry potter?
But everything about magic,
we can use for projects, whatever it is.

At the beginning, we thought
of using birdcage as the core
of our project. Birdcage is an
important prop for the owl in
harry potter, and now more
and more artists in the society
will use birdcage as inspiration
for installation art, as well as an
important element representing
magic.

However, after discussion with the
team members, we agreed that if the
bird cage was used as the main
material, it would be too specific to
the elements of harry potter, which
would not meet the “magic” theme
we wanted to do at the beginning.
In addition, this project has a large
amount of work and is not easy to o
perate.

After communicating with the tutor,
we learned that it is not necessary
to change the whole forest table, but
only part of the forest belongs to the
area we designed.According to the
cage idea, we made a simple model
with materials. But later, I gave up
this plan because I thought the
elements were too single.
