After the last review, the tutor suggested me
to find a way to remove the umbrella handle or
to avoid it in a good way during the use,
because the umbrella handle will be very
obstructed and interfere with the normal rest
when people lie on the blanket.
Iron frame, put the outside of the umbrella,
the umbrella to hang up.The idea came from a titration rack in
a chemical experiment.However, after
many experiments, I found that the
drawback was that such an iron frame
was too heavy to fit the theme of portable.
Make a semi-circular stand out of
cardboard to hold the umbrella up.
This was inspired by a handmade piece.However,
after the experiment, it was found that the paper
ring could hardly bear all the weight of the umbrella.
After repeated thickening, the paper ring was tested
again. The good news was that the paper ring could
bear and stand.
Use wire to make a stand and place
it on either side of the umbrella.
Inspired by the garden rack, it is easy
to make and has a unique way of
standing.And very heavy.
After I prepared the tools, I began
to make the wire.Because the iron
wire is not heavy enough, after
many experiments to thicken the
iron wire, finally made can
withstand the weight of the
umbrella.

not stand.After four or five times of
thickening, and also with the color of
the wire in the periphery of the winding
again, so that the thickness of the
wire increased.
With the support of the iron frame on both sides,
I made the handle of the umbrella the shortest,
so that it would not be affected when the user
lay down.

Started to connect the umbrella and tent.

I used Velcro to connect the umbrella and tent, so i can take them off at any time and turn them into a single item, also connect either.

Put little stars on the surface of the umbrella, and then wrap the inside of the umbrella with LED lights. Everything is ready for tomorrow’s presentation.

tutorial day Tutor changed my plan, she think me need focus on the umbrella, not the chair. So I think my inspiration maybe should from the beach umbrella, then I search lots of picture from google. Finally got some idea.

02/12/2019.
I had an idea from the Chinese traditional culture, it name is “ A hundred families clothes ”, this is kind of the best wishes for the new baby, stitched together with all kinds of colored cloth from their friends and relatives, so that’s actually not the real hundred. So i want to use this special point into my project .

Finally, i made the second plan. I creative one folding chair and named ‘Umbrella chair’ acutely is a folding chair with a umbrella. This is not a normal umbrella, the Curtains hang from the inside of the umbrella, i think if someone needs to take a nap or have rest at the public space, he(she) must really need the private space, nobody want to show their sleep to stranger. So the umbrella can Create a temporary private space for users to increase the sense of security. I also want to add some Egyptian elements at the surface of umbrella, About the chair, i want to use the woods and load-bearing linen. I want to drawing the image of goddess of nut, want to build the same feeling with the sarcophagus.

I got one idea, maybe i can make something is folding, such as folding sofa or chair, i search some picture from Google, and draw the plan, but i think this plan is impractical, very difficult to real that, because i need lots of steel tube, this is truly hard about the student who stay in the school want to finish the project. That really need the professional factory to complete it. So i given up the first plan.

Adaptive reuse, It is used for social culture without damaging the value of the heritage. Use the traditional craft methods to design a portable living device, which allow user to immediately rest in the site of soane museum. (Sleeping, eating, leisure, rest, relaxation.)

I prefer to design a living device to sleeping, I think this device do not need the user exactly to lying, if this place is comfortable, just sit here can be asleep. I search something about Egypt, I’m consider the Egyptian elements is the significant points I can add into my project. But I’m still confused.

I made one picture about blanket.
09/12/2019
Started to made the blanket. I bought about 10 kids shirts from pounds shop, then cut the suitable size to made it together.
10/12/2019 midnight
After stitching up all the cloth, draw symbols about Egypt on some of the cloth, then stuff the cotton into the cloth bag that was reserved before, and paste the lovely little stars on the surface of the blanket.

The blanket finished.

About the sustainablity

In recent years, the earth’s environment has become more and more severe, global warming, storms and other catastrophic weather frequent occurrence, to human life has brought a lot of serious threats and a lot of inconvenience, this is the result of people continue to harm the earth.

Human beings have only one earth, which is the home of human beings. If people want to have a happier life, they must protect the environment, take good care of the earth, and make sustainable development more widely used in life.

Conclusion these 10 weeks.

It was 2 months from the first day in the uk until now, I spend 10 weeks in the pre-english language course, that was really wonderful time in my life.

From the beginning to the UK, I dare not say anything, I can now do simple basic communication with foreigners, and learn to write the Academic paper, that all need to thanks my perfect tutor-Adam.

He is truly Patient and knowledgeable teacher, he never criticized us because we are not doing well, he always teach us not to be the best, just do the better than last time in yourself.

The end of pre-english course is means the real start of my Master course. I wish I can improve my english speaking well and have Successful graduation.
